Clover Hogan is a Force of Nature (Mar21)

If you haven’t come across Clover, have a look at her most recent Ted Talk below – Denial or Despair? How to rewrite your climate change story.

Clover is 21. I met her a year ago at a Procter & Gamble advisory meeting, just before Covid struck. I was totally bowled over. She’s incredibly impressive in terms of her knowledge and understanding of environmental issues, but also in the way she presents her ideas and opinions.

She told me about her Australian origins but that she spent her school years in Bali and then France. Since then she’s advised numerous corporates, made speeches all over the world and set up Force of Nature. More recently – during the Covid crisis – she’s recorded a podcast series interviewing people leading the charge on climate change. It’s amazing how much she has packed into such a short time.

The main focus of her work is on eco-anxiety – persistent worries about the future of Earth and life on it, particularly relating to climate change. Apparently, this is becoming increasingly common, particularly amongst the younger generation. They feel despairing about what’s happening and powerless to do anything about it.

Clover’s mission is to empower young people and help them re-write their stories, so that they become part of the solution. That’s the focus of Force of Nature.

“Over 70% of 18-24 year olds in the UK experience eco-anxiety – fear, stress, panic and guilt in the face of the climate crisis. Many feel powerless to create change.

If this is the first time you’ve come across Clover, I’m sure it won’t be the last.
