WILDING AT HOOKE

We started wilding in earnest at Hooke Farm in 2020, as the first Covid lock-down got underway.  The first 3 months required a lot of earth moving, as we created ponds, waterfalls, wildflower meadows and mounds.

A year later we had poppies and cornflowers, daisies and camomile spread across the site. It was a riot of colour and incredibly exciting. Two years on there the perennials have come to the fore with a mass of bird’s foot trefoil and many plants I don’t recognise. But best of all is the influx of bees, birds, butterflies & other wildlife.

This page will give you some of the highlights and includes information boards about some of the features we have introduced – our bird boxes, hibernaculum, bat egg and Sweet track to name s few.

Let me know what you think and if you have ideas that we might like to adopt.
